What is SOC2 type 2?

SOC2 type 2 compliance is among the most respected certifications in the tech industry. Designed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), it ensures companies manage customer data with the highest standards of security, confidentiality, and integrity.

Initially introduced in 2011, SOC2 compliance emerged as companies increasingly relied on cloud-based solutions. The certification quickly became the standard for evaluating data security among SaaS providers, highlighting a company’s ongoing commitment to maintaining secure systems and transparent processes.

What sets SOC2 type 2 apart is its emphasis on continuous auditing over an extended period, typically between three to twelve months. Unlike type 1, which assesses security measures at one point, type 2 confirms ongoing adherence and effectiveness over time.

How Sheetgo got certified

Sheetgo’s journey to achieving SOC2 type 2 involved close collaboration with auditors, ensuring meticulous validation of every security measure. Fortunately, around 90% of the security practices reviewed were already firmly in place, reflecting Sheetgo’s proactive commitment to robust security standards. Only about 10% required additional refinement or new implementation.

While the team was confident in existing measures, achieving SOC2 compliance was never guaranteed. However, Sheetgo’s advantage was clear: our team includes three developers with Google Professional Cloud Certifications, the most challenging and prestigious credentials in cloud security. Their expertise proved invaluable throughout this rigorous audit process.

Achieving SOC2 type 2 compliance isn’t something a company can accomplish overnight. It’s practically impossible to leap directly from insufficient security practices to full SOC2 adherence. Sheetgo’s successful certification is a testament to our existing robust security foundation.
