Sheetgo: From construction industry need to global solution

Fourteen years ago, with my previous company in the construction industry I faced a fundamental challenge: getting real-time, accurate financial insights. I wanted a simple and automated way to compare budget vs. actuals, but back then, tools for data integration were practically nonexistent.

That was when I built an early version of what would later become Sheetgo, using Google Sheets and early versions of Google Workspace. The idea was simple: automate budget tracking without having to manually compile spreadsheets or chase after fragmented data.

From financial tracking to operational visibility

Once I had budget tracking automated, I needed something even more critical—understanding what was happening at the construction site in real-time.

I wanted an easy way for my team to report progress, flag issues, and log daily activities. That led to integrating simple form-based reporting into the system, creating a workflow that automatically consolidated data from site workers into a live dashboard.

With time, more issues arose:

  • How do I check on the quality of construction and track defects?
  • How does construction quality impact payments and planning for repairs?
  • Can we track the sales team’s funnel automatically?
  • How can we ensure the sales team always knows unit availability?

As we refined the system, it started bridging the gaps between construction, finance, sales, and operations—without the need for expensive, complex enterprise software.

The evolution of Sheetgo

What started as a personal need in my construction company grew into a scalable solution for businesses across industries. Today, Sheetgo is used by over 87 clients in the construction and property management sector, helping them:

  • Automate budgeting and CAPEX forecasting (Canam Group Inc.)
  • Manage job tracking and performance monitoring (Turtle Roofing, Brite Homes)
  • Streamline payroll and HR reporting (Groupe Bouda, BRK Services)
  • Improve financial planning and sales tracking (Inmobiliaria Grupo Hogares)
  • Integrate inventory management and service scheduling (Essent, SolisUSA)

Bridging the gap between construction and data automation

What’s amazing is that the same problems I faced 14 years ago—fragmented data, manual tracking, and lack of visibility—are the same problems construction and property management companies struggle with today. The difference? With Sheetgo  businesses can automate these processes.

Looking ahead, the mission remains the same: helping companies connect their data, automate workflows, and make better decisions.

And to think it all started with one simple spreadsheet. 😊
