2. Connect to a new Google Sheets file<\/h4>\n
It\u2019s time to connect your spreadsheet to a new file. Under the Send data<\/b> section, select Google Sheets<\/b>. We want to create another Google Sheets file where our historical values will be recorded.<\/p>\n

3. Append your data<\/h3>\n

4. Edit your Automate schedule for data transfers<\/h4>\n
You should now see your completed connection on the right-hand side of your spreadsheet. Now, we can adjust the automation settings to determine the frequency with which Sheetgo transfers the data from our original file to the new file.<\/p>\n

Automatically track changes in Google Sheets with Sheetgo<\/h3>\n
And there you have it! Using the Sheetgo add-on, you can create a workflow that not only tracks your historical data, but also automatically transfers your data for ultimate efficiency.<\/p>\n
- Parse data:<\/b> Sheetgo will identify and transfer any numbers, text, and formulas in your spreadsheet. If unchecked, Sheetgo will simply transfer your values as raw data instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
- Lock destination tab:<\/b> Enabling this will prevent any edits made to your destination file. Sheetgo will remove any edits made after each automatic transfer.<\/li>\n

For Andrew to be able to track changes in Google sheets, he would have to copy and paste these values every day to record this information. The reason being that there is no feature native to Google Sheets that\u00a0allows us to preserve a historic value of a changing variable. Therefore, this is just a one time setup that Andrew can configure, and the Sheetgo add-on connection we just created, will automatically track changes in Google sheets.\n\nThe tracking keeps happening automatically and periodically\u00a0once the appropriate connection is in place. Please note that we can change the frequency with which these data imports happen or even turn off the automatic update altogether. Shown below is how we navigate to the corresponding settings pane.\n\nConnection name\u00a0<\/strong>(in this case \u201cSG_Prices today\u201d)\u00a0> edit\u00a0<\/strong>(the pencil icon)\u00a0> Automatic update > edit<\/strong>.\n\nClick on the green slider button to turn the automatic update off. Instead, we can keep the automatic update active, and change the scheduling frequency and execution time as required.
